Career Opportunity - Data Collector

 

The Town of Webb is seeking to fill the full-time position of Data Collector.  This technical field position is responsible for collecting and recording the physical inventory used by the Assessor to establish the assessed value of each parcel. This position is under the direct supervision of the Assessor and will work in coordination with the Assessing Clerk.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Two year degree or high school education (or equivalency) and two years data collection, real estate, building construction or related experience. Possession of a valid driver's license.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Applicants should possess thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; including experience with Excel and Microsoft Word;  good knowledge of basic arithmetic;  working knowledge of building materials and construction;  ability to record figures accurately and legibly;  ability to read tax maps for site location;  ability to enter/ retrieve data from a real property computer program;  ability to establish cooperative relations with homeowners and occupants;  aptitude for conducting inspections including good observation and mental alertness.

 

Starting Salary: To be determined.  Full benefit package including paid leave, holidays, health insurance and participation in the New York State and Local Retirement System.

 

Background and Reference Checks – The Town of Webb conducts appropriate background and reference checks.  Applicants will be required to sign a release in order to have this background and reference check completed.

 

Civil Service Status – This position is classified as Competitive, which means that a written examination is required.  The candidate must also successfully complete a probationary period.
